In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track at the time within one year. It was a combination of reggaeton with pop that not only brought new attention to reggaeton music, but also the popularity of Latin music. There were in 2015 two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, at the height of Despacito's popularity 19, 19 tracks mostly Spanish were included in the Top 100. By 2020 it will be 41 tracks in this category. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix from Despacito (2017) well-known artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake together with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma in Medellin (2019). In 2020, several Reggaeton stars were dissatisfied with the trend of the genre towards mainstream. Yet, a newer generation, Rauw Alejandro, was keen to maintain the development. The genre often incorporated elements from electronic dance music and other genres.
